Solaguayre - History
It all begins in 1998 with the purchase of the first 50 hectares in Capitán Sarmiento, a field that originally belonged to the Amoros family, who for years carried out agriculture and ranching on the site. The field impressed us from the beginning because of the picturesqueness, in a broken area with streams and hills, which was the inspiration for the name we gave it, a mystery in which many see a word of Guarani origin, but which actually had the words SOL , WATER, AIR, which were transformed into SOLAGUAYRE.
The field did not have facilities, there were only a few trees, deteriorated fences and a heavily worked field. In the first years we continued with the breeding of cattle and we were developing a landscaping project, making pastures, improving fences, carrying out the constructions that we can find today.
The year 2000 we can say the year of foundation of the Haras Solaguayre that we started with the purchase of our first mother mare and the birth of our first product Solaguayre Morella, also from the maternal line of Solaguayre Nirvana and Solaguayre Country Boy, the first outstanding products. In these first years we were incorporating mother mares, using services from renowned Argentine stallions and frozen semen from European stallions.
Towards 2005 we renewed our commitment to breeding, as we had the satisfaction of obtaining the Reserved Grand Male Champion in the Argentine Rural Society, with Solaguayre Country Knight, which was later acquired by Vera Protzen, several times National Training Champion and who obtained the National Championship 2009 and 2010 with the horse in its category.
In these years we also expanded the surface of the field with the incorporation of 20 bordering hectares and others a little further away to complete 146 hectares, dedicated to Haras.
In 2007 motivated by our passion for excellence, we began a new stage, we traveled through Holland and Germany, pillars of sports horse breeding, where we saw about breeding methods, one of our conclusions was that the improvement of genetics to The use of frozen semen alone would be very long and would not allow the incorporation of successful blood lines, in use in Europe, it would be limited only to the supply of semen available in Argentina.
We had to make a leap in quality with the incorporation of modern genetics in use in Europe, for this reason and thinking of completely renovating the stock of mothers, we started buying fillies in Germany, with the idea of having a 100% offspring in the future. European, with the successful bloodlines of the moment. In this new stage that we set out to carry out the Holstein Breeding project in Argentina, Holstein's choice is based on the fact that we consider it to be one of the best breeding systems in the world with an orientation to jumping obstacles and because it has a system of years selection, very strict in the maternal lines and a demanding stallion approval system. It is a closed Studbook, but it is open to the incorporation of the most successful stallions and mares, as well as the regular incorporation of thoroughbred stallions. In its genetics are pillars of the breeding such as: Ramiro, Ladykiller, Landgraf, Lord, Cor de la Bryere, Caretino, Corrado, Contender, Capitol, Carthago, Cassini, and incorporates other origins such as Quidam de Revel, Diamant de Semilly, Kannan , etc.
In the first stage 2007/8/9 we imported numerous fillies. In 2009 we created our Reproduction Center and started the embryo transplant program. We have imported frozen semen from Holstein stallions from the Holsteiner Verband and from Paul Shockemole, with which we are serving our mares. The first fruits of this plan are the 2010 generation, which have stood out in Series I of New Horses 2015 and FEA Championships.
In 2010 we also had the enormous satisfaction of seeing the beginning of the sports career of Solaguayre Coronado (Corland x Iroko), ridden by Leandro Moschini, who excelled in the tests of young horses and we very much regret his premature death when he began to excel in the most demanding tests.
In recent years we have increased to a total of 200 hectares dedicated to horses and we have increased our production to obtain 20 products per year, mainly using embryos from our mares in sport and frozen semen from approved Holsteiner stallions.
In 2012 we acquired a 5-hectare property in the town of Los Cardales, Province of Buenos Aires, just 45 minutes from Buenos Aires, to train our products.
Our goal is to develop our broodstock and their products in sport, thinking of permanently ranking and improving our breeding. We do all this with a team under the direction of Carlos Milthaler.
Today it became a reality because we have excellent results in the sport of the children of the first imported mares:
Catrina (Cartani x Lord) with her children Quitrina x Quitender Champion Series II and outstanding performance in Chile with Agustin Covarrubias, Berlini x Casparo champion Series II continues in Colombia a successful sports career, Castina x Castino competing in Series III, Catarina Maximum price of the 2014 generation

These and other products, some sold, are on the slopes with very good results.
Our ultimate goal is to produce the best horses for the sport, healthy, modern, docile with the potential for the most demanding tests. Permanently incorporating modern genetics, in 2016 we imported a new group of filly daughters from For Pleasure, Casall ASK, Crunch, Dinken and Casaltino in mothers with very good antecedents and genetics.
Finally, we seek to reach the market by establishing long-term relationships with our clients, based on trust and honesty.
