" NOREN whose first name was GAYSSIRE FLEURY was bought at 3yrs old by the National Stud during the stallion show but was returned to his owner because of his behavior when breedin ! Maybe he wasnt handled as gently as required ? Nevertheless he was always very fertile but later on was always fairly delicate when breeding Which explains the low numbers of mares covered during the 6 years he bred in France . NOREN apart from being a champion was also a very engaging horse. Very tickleish, he didnt like to be fiddled with in his stable, but under the saddle, he was a force of nature, a thoroughbred in the body of a warmblood , intelligent, energetic and powerful at the same time. During the 3 years that NOREN spent at Brullemail, I rode him regularly and it was such a joy.. He came from the breeding of the little thoroughbred SIRE and a big warmblood mare ,the kind of matching that unfortunately French breeders do not do anymore." Origins
His father SIRE, good winner in flat racing, has produced numerous winnesr in CSO, even though he only bred for 4years. NOREN was the best but he also produced HONNEUR DE SIRE (ISO 158, CSI in USA), INTREPIDE E (1st Criterium 6yr olds, CSI, ISO156), IMPETUEUX (3rd 5yr old Champion, 5th Criterium 6yr olds, CSI), Finlande (7th 5yr olds, 5th 6yr olds, ISO 148), Glume (10th Champion 5yr olds, ISO 143), Idaho (ISO 145), Ivala (CSI).
SIRE was a son of MOURNE whose descendants were very talented in CSO. MOURNE who was a famous race horse stallion, bred in France and in England, and produced thoroughbred winnes in CSIO, ALCATRAZ (N. Pessoa) & CROQUETTE (G. de Balanda) as well as the stallions GARDE CŒUR & BORAN. This last one is famous mostly for being the father of the exceptional thoroughbred LAUDANUM winner in CSIO and a remarkable stallion.
His dam CAPUCINE was a daughter of KHEREDDINE,( being himself the son of a thoroughbred BABOUINO, known for producing horses with aptitude for jumping.) GAYSSIRE FLEURY was a Finalist at Fontainebleau at 4, 5 & 6yrs old, 13th 5yr old Championship and 14th Critérium 6yr olds with Xavier Leredde.
Exported to Belgium, under the name of SOCRATES Z, GAYSSIRE FLEURY participated in the Final of the WorldCup in Birmingham in 1981 under the saddle of Johan Heins.
Exported to the USA, he was renamed NOREN and with Kathy Monahan, he became one of the best horses in the world from1982-83 : NOREN is the only stallion to have won 10 international Grand Prix in 2 seasons: 1st American Invitiation, 1st South Florida Grand Prix, 1st Prescott Grand Prix, 1st Ocala Grand Prix, 1st Lake Placid Grand Prix, 1st Detroit Grand Prix, 1st Tampa Grand Prix, 1st Ox Ridge Grand Prix, 1st President Cup New York, 1st Washington Grand Prix.
NOREN became " Horse of the Year 1982 " and was also 9th in the Final of the World Cup in Vienna in 1983 won by I LOVE YOU. Descendants

Stamm 8145 Ahorn Z was a large framed bay stallion with good presence and top-line. He had a beautiful face and slim riding horse neck. Good shoulder, wither, croup connection. A good mover and great jumper through a tight front end. He became an international jumping legend with the Dutch team competing in many World Cups and Grand Prix . He was approved by most German breeding registries and sired among others the famous Acord brothers, Acord I, Acord II, and Acord III. His offspring are often of his type and size. They have beautiful haunches and are good movers that show great jumping ability. Ahorn Z transmits courage, determined character and sincere force and structure without removing class.
